Photography Time!

Hey guys!
I have been taking photographs all week for my CyberArts tech. culminating assignment and thought I'd share a picture with you.

Our assignment focuses on manufactured landscapes and my idea was to show factories that are awkwardly placed in random areas (between houses, in front of schools, etc). While I was taking pictures one day, I found this little factory beside a bridge near my house. I looked very out of place and I was drawn to it. This is one of the pictures I took of the factory.

This picture really interested me; the exposure of the image looked pretty cool. It doesn't really show the location of the factory but you can still tell what it is and that it is on a slope. I also found the placement of the tree on the side to be interesting. I really liked his picture and I hope you like it too! :)

Have a nice day!

Amazing Typography

Hey guys!
Its 10:11pm and I have just finished my homework! So, I thought I'd go through my numerous bookmarks and post some of the cool things I found online.

What I'm going to show you today is some amazing and creative examples of Typography that I found online; 50 to be exact. But for the moment, I'm going to only show you some of my favourites!

This is a piece by ~um0p3pisdn. I LOVED the detail put into this piece. Now only is the text warped to form an actual person, the depth put into the piece was breathtaking. I loved how the artist used colour to show a 3D effect in this piece. I can't even imagine the time and effort put in to make this graphic image.

The second image I chose to show you was by ~swordfishll. I personally read this poem recently in my English class so it immediately caught my eye. I really liked the colour choice for this piece. I also liked that this image looks so simple yet so complex at the same time. The piece is mostly flat without much depth but the detail put into it to make the branched of the tree was really cool!

This is the last piece I chose to include as one of my favourites. It was made by ~e-emoo. My favourite part of this image is the overall look. I love how this image not only used text but stock images and textures as well. It's kind of like mixed media which makes it look really cool. I love how it gives off a collage like feeling. The variety of sizes of font used to make the designs on the umbrella was also very interesting!

I hope you enjoyed these amazing typography pieces! To see 47 more interesting pieces, do check out this website!

Have a great night! :)

Some Inspiration; an edited trailer

Hi Guys!

I was on YouTube the other day looking at random videos and I came across this fan made trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows [Part1].

This video was made by Kirwani90. I thought the video was interesting because the trailer resembled the sound-editing assignment I had been working on in my CyberArts tech class; which I've mentioned previously in my last post :). I loved how the scenes were edited; some scenes were slowed, some color corrected others drained of colour. It found it interesting and the music used was very fitting. I liked how the editor took an original action, thrilling trailer and made it sad yet intense and dramatic.

I respect the work of this maker because I know how hard it is to edit scenes into the specific order you want it too; timing, transition and all. I also know how much time it takes to find the more fitting music to use and make sure it is perfectly timed and transitioned. So watching this trailer; I was amazed.

I enjoyed this fan made trailer A LOT and I hope you like it as well!

Also! I will be posting up my own edited trailer soon :)

Mazes of the Mind

Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to share my El Anatsui piece with you. I had been working for it for about two months now and I am finally finished! This piece is packed already and ready to be sent to the ROM but I took a picture before so I could show you all! :)

The title of my El Anatsui piece is called “Mazes of the mind”. The theme behind it has to do with the walls of hatred; how when you are so mad at something or angry at the world around you that you build so many walls around yourself that it create a maze. When the walls become a maze you have to find your way around them, find your conscience and then find your way out to the real world.

My piece is mostly transparent so you can see through to the other side. One side of my piece consists of a happy, normal world with a white maze around it; this represents that you can conquer the maze and found you way out, people will accept you again. The other side is the opposite; it shows a dark blood red and black world with a black maze. This represents the fact that you may not want to break out of the maze of hatred and if you do, the world and the people in it may not want to accept you anymore because of the things you have said or done.

Since my piece is transparent, I placed a person and their conscience on two different sides of the piece. It seems as they are on the same side but really, there is a barrier between them.

My concept includes many questions within questions. It makes you think because there are two scenarios to it and it depends on who looks at it and what their point of view is. You do not know the conclusion until you think about the actions. My piece has a simple design but it has a maze of thoughts around it.

FREEDOM

Hello Everyone!

For a project at school we were asked to create a t-shirt design that reflected and represented an article from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

For this design I chose article #18; everyone has the right of freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public of private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.

My idea behind my design is that everyone should accept that there is more than one kind of religion and belief and everyone should have the right to carry them out without being judged or punished. My design has the word "FREEDOM" In large letters in bold and underneath that word I have 3 words that summarize the whole article; thought, conscience and religion. Beside it, I have a man and a women praying but it is not defined which religion they follow because there are symbols of a lot of different religions. I am trying to convey that all religions are different but it shouldn't matter which one you follow.

I hope you like it! :)

Touch the Sky :)

Hello Everyone!
So, last week on Thursday, I went outside to help my two friends take pictures for an assignment we are working on in CyberArts tech. We took the pictures and on our way back to the school we started jumping and taking random photographs.

This is one of the photographs my friend took of me while I was fooling around just jumping. It was beautiful outside so I had a lot of energy. So I guess I jumped pretty high looking at this photo. I didn't really know what this picture turned out like until my friend showed me it on her computer. I immediately transferred it onto my USB key and brought it home. After that I opened it onto Photoshop and did some colour correction using levels, colour balance, brightness and contrast and selective colour. After that I added some wording to the top left corner and there you have it!

I really like this photo because its very surreal, it goes against gravity because it looks like your just floating in mid-air and its funny because I didn't really plan it. You're just jumping up and down and whatever the camera captures, it captures. It's very random, and so that's what I like about it.

I hope you like it and I hope you try it one day! Just grab and camera and shoot while your in motion. It's totally random and you might have some laughs along the way when look at any ridiculous poses that turn up! So Have fun! :)

Sparkles in the Snow

I stepped out of my door on tuesday and the first thing that I thought was, "Oh my gosh, It's cold." Not that it should be sweating hot, it is February, but there was a wind chill and I was waiting at the bus stop. But then I looked around and I didn't feel cold anymore. Why? Not because the bus came (because it didn't) but because I saw the snow around me.

It started snowing and in about five minutes the ground was covered in white and more fluffy snowflakes were falling from the sky. Everywhere I looked I saw sparkles from the reflection of the sun on the snow. It was beautiful and I would have taken a picture and posted it up, but I sadly didn't have a camera.

So the moral of my story is, when your outside and your freezing, look around you. Not only will you find distraction from the freezing weather but you'll feel inspired in one way or another. Trust me, it happened to me.
